The Task of The Ask!

The cat gets asked here and there, and so does every one else at every lair, about this or that when really all one wants to do is scat.

How are you?
Good, we're through.
Have a good day.
Like you care anyway.

See you later.
Nope, sorry I'm a hater.
What's up?
Nothing, pup.

Are you okay?
Yep, now go away.
Isn't it a nice day?
Sure, still go away.

How is that weather?
Umm you know we are together.
I can see there is snow,
And which way the wind decides to blow.

Are you there?
Nope, says my glare.
Find everything you were looking for?
Nope, I'll go to another store.

Can I help you?
No, now shoo.
How was your weekend?
Same as any other trend.

Have a good night!
I hope your fleas bite.
Have a good night?
Two in one, such a plight.

What are you doing?
Right now, you I'm shooing.
How are you doing?
My faith in humanity isn't renewing.

What are you up to?
I left you a present in your shoe.
Are things going good?
Better if you were out of my hood.

How are you?
This already came due.
Have a good day.
Sure, I will just because you say.

Pffft humans and their so called polite chat. Really all they want to do, or want you to do, is scat. Arbitrary question land you humans all find grand. Maybe I should give a big long winded answer every time such a question comes to pass, then no more arbitrary questions for my little rhyming ass.

Enjoy your winter, smash a printer.

  1. "about this or that when really all one wants to do is scat"
Lots of questions some confusing and even gets one scared
    How's the weather?
    That's easy to answer
So long one answers with wit and humor not ending in a spat

  2. Much human conversation is fluff
Cats can even do it in the buff
Stripped to just a meow means fill my dish
    No ootsy-cutsie baby talk don't I wish
A cat likes to take his place in the sun
And watch humans babble till day is done

  3. ha - sometimes i wonder how people would react if we answer their set phrase question in an unexpected way... probably they wouldn't even realize cause they're not really listening anyway

if I really told them how I was today
would they listen with interest or care
or would they stare up into the air?

  6. It is sad that most people really don't care how you but there are some that really do care and are interested. So I hesitate to hope for you to have a good day but I really do hope that you do. We all need to have good days.

  8. "How are you?" is a stupid expression
Interest in one is not the intension!

  15. You have a way of turning conventional things upside down and giving them a good shake, so everyone looks at the usual with new eyes. You make me stop and think! And I really like that!

I'm guilty of a number of things you listed in your post! But I will continue to say things like "Have a great day at your bay!" Because I really do mean it!!! It may not make any difference in how great your day actually is, but I think it's good to send positive thoughts out into the universe, given how much ugliness and cruelty abounds.

I'll go one further and say give Cassie and Orlin a favorite scratch or belly rub from me ~ and I'll mean it, because you have made those critters so real in your posts.

I have to admit, "Are you there?" is a head scratcher! Take care! At your lair!
(You do seem to attract loonies, more than your share).

  21. I noticed that when I worked in an office. "How are you today?" "Fine." Nobody really wants to know. What gets me is when I'm asked how I am and I say, "Fine, how are you?" They NEVER answer! I just asked a question. But I always just say hi to people. I don't greet people by asking how they are.
