Are There Loos In Zoos?

And here we are the end of the a to z at my bar. Now my break is through and I have to come up with topics at my zoo. Yeah, that's not hard to do. Especially since I write this it is October at my zoo. For z it is just that, zoos will be yapped about by the cat.

My zoo isn't a zoo.
That much you knew.
Then again there is a door,
So we really can't explore.

For our own good,
We're told at our hood.
Those cars are scary.
Moving things that aren't hairy.

Anyway, on with it.
Zoos sure are a hit.
But are they wise?
Some let loose cries.

They get enraged.
The poor animals caged.
Go on and on and on,
From dusk to dawn.

There may be a point,
To their yapping at ones joint.
But then on the flip side,
Saves some from an extinction ride.

Humans kill off most,
Drive them away from coast to coast.
Then they stick them in a zoo,
And save them from extinction coming due.

A big helping hand there, right?
My, start and stop the plight.
Humans really see into the future quite far.
Maybe their brains are filled with tar?

But then the good ones save.
So that is a good path they pave.
Plus they need dough to do so.
So humans visit high and low.

A win win for the good ones.
Not so much for the ones that suck tons.
They are just after the money.
But you get to pet a bunny.

In this day in age,
Are zoos even still the rage?
So do you picket,
Or buy a ticket?

Been to a zoo? Think they are evil without a clue? So ends the a to z. Another year it has been done by me. Hopefully the cat didn't ruffle too many feathers with his rants. If so, go step on some ants. They taste good too. You can trust my zoo. Or you can just give me sass. Works fine for my little rhyming ass.

Experience spring, have a fling.

  3. I buy the ticket. There are some crappy zoos out there, but most have switched to a very natural environment and give the animals space. It is sad humans pushed them to the brink of extinction in the first place and then did a mad scramble trying to save them.

    2. Alex,

I hope you are correct that most have switched to natural habitats. I know that in some cases zoos have some animals in captivity that are nearing extinction in the wild. So I guess in that case the zoo is helping the animal population.

  16. I've been to some great zoos and loved seeing the animals. I often wondered, as they looked at me the way I looked at them, what they were thinking. Were they happy living in a cage or would they rather be roaming free? I prefer animals in the wild, but sometimes, to keep them from becoming extinct, they need protection. Otherwise, I think they should be allowed their freedom.

  18. I prefer wildlife preserves over zoos. That's where the good work is done, the work that really matters. Zoos don't contribute much to bringing animals back from extinction and returning them to their habitats. As for studying the behaviour of wild animals in a zoo setting, it's ineffective. I'm not on a rant here saying zoos should be closed and they are evil. I'm stating a preference. Also I can't go to a zoo without crying, so I don't go.

    It also made me mad,
I have always loved the zoo,
Though it's a bit harder to do,
When you age and get a clue.
Is conservation like this the right way?
Or is it merely show and tell for pay?
I would love to think that zoologists care,
about every giraffe, monkey & bear,
but sometimes I wonder if it's right,
and on which side of the table I should fight.
